Welcome to Mountain Roots Rolfing®

Rolfing is a manual therapy approach to organizing the body’s structure for better everyday functional movement and structural alignment. Throughout life we experience stress and injuries in many ways; from falls, accidents, car wrecks, surgeries, pregnancy, birth, emotional stress or our daily lives. When these stressors persist, fascia (connective tissue) can get thicker, creating seemingly stuck posture, movements or experiencing less range of motion and/or pain. Rolfing focuses on addressing the body as a whole through the fascia, soft tissues, skeletal structure, and the nervous system to help people be more aware of their movements, space around them and discover ease in both posture and functional movement. When the body’s structure is aligned, it uses less energy and effort for movement and living within gravity. Muscles, joints and connective tissues, which fascia is a part of, can all move and function with more ease. When the body is more organized this leads to less pain, tension, holding, more range of motion and allows the person to maintain daily life with more mental and bodily balance.

Rolfing is a powerful process lending a sense of freedom and expanse in one's body!

I grew up in Mammoth Hot Springs inside of Yellowstone National Park. I spent most of my youth running around the Northern part of the park getting chased by elk, swimming in the Boiling River, spelunking in the Hoodoos and eating ice cream at Hamilton’s General Store.

In college, I spent time alternating between school and working as a Wildland Firefighter. I graduated from Colorado State University with a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology while continuing my career in Wildland Fire. I spent 13 years as a Wildland Firefighter; working on Helena Hotshots, Hand Crews, a Helitack crew and a Wildland Fire Module. The daily work life in fire led me to have a few injuries and while searching for ways to heal, I found Rolfing.

After completing the 10-series (and some bonus sessions), I finally found relief from my knee and neck pain. Through those successes with Rolfing, I enrolled in school at the Dr. Ida Rolf Institute in Boulder, CO. I began school in January 2020; after persevering through school delays due to the pandemic and growing my family, I graduated as a Certified Rolfer®.

Pain stems from so many factors in our lives, past and present. Rolfing can help to alleviate pain, unwinding our patterns to create a more balanced and aligned body and life. I am excited to share Rolfing here in Wyoming! Hope to see you soon!
